Ballet-Pink Ribbon and Leftover Fabric

I recently fell in love with this ballet-pink ribbon at China World.

I also had some of the light blue fabric left over from the piece shown on the right in the photo, so I decided to combine the two and have a top made.

The Finished Top

Here’s how it turned out.

I went with a sleeveless design that fastens at the back with a ribbon.

The combination of soft blue and pale pink feels really fresh and light.

Could This Work as Office Wear?

Because the overall look is quite polished and the ribbon color is subtle, I thought this could actually work well as office wear too.

The fabric isn’t see-through either, which makes it very easy to wear.

Three Pieces from 4.5 Meters of Fabric

I originally bought 4.5 meters of the blue fabric for a dress and a pair of overalls for my son.

And somehow, there was still enough left to make this top too.

So in total, I managed to get three pieces from the same fabric, which felt like a pretty good deal.

That said, using the exact same fabric over and over can sometimes start to feel repetitive.

But adding a different detail — like the ribbon this time — made me realize how much fun it can be to give the same fabric a completely different look.

I usually prefer cleaner, more polished styles, but I also went to take a look at African fabrics, which are known for being colorful, affordable, and incredibly fun.
