My Tailoring Review

Since this was my first full year of custom tailoring, I thought the end of the year would be a good time to look back at everything I had made.
There are many ways to evaluate tailor-made clothes, but this time I kept it simple and rated each piece out of five in three categories:
- Fabric
- Design
- Comfort (For my son’s clothes, I used how much he liked them instead.)
My Top 3

Here are my top three pieces for myself.
1st Place — 14 points: Orange Overalls
The fabric was love at first sight, and the relaxed design worked so well for all kinds of situations in Thailand.
It quickly became one of my favorite pieces.
Tied for 2nd — 12 points: Beige Ribbon-Back Dress
I was really happy that people often complimented the back design on this one.
Still, I gave it four points in each category because I feel like there’s still room to make the next version even better.
Tied for 2nd — 12 points: Pink Dress
The fabric was a little heavy, so I gave the fabric three points.
But it was still comfortable to wear, and the color and simple design were very much my style.
It also has a special place in my heart because it was my very first tailor-made piece.
My Son’s Top 3

And here are my son’s top three.
1st Place — 14 points: Turtle-Print Set
The turtle print was just too cute.
It also turned out to be surprisingly versatile — paired with a straw hat, it almost worked like a jinbei-style outfit for summer festivals in Japan, but it could also look slightly polished depending on how we styled it.
Most importantly, my son liked it too, so it easily took first place.
2nd Place — 13 points: Green Overalls
I had several pairs of overalls made in the same design, but this one stood out because the fabric was so good.
It was cool, soft, easy to move in, and the bright vitamin color suited Thailand perfectly.
3rd Place — 12 points: Orange Pants
I loved the color of this fabric too, and my son found the pants comfortable and easy to move in.
They ranked highly overall, although I only gave the design three points because, well… the design itself was pretty basic.
The Rest of My Tailor-Made Pieces

Even though the other pieces didn’t make the top three, the scores weren’t that far behind, and overall I was very happy with them.
I also managed to make several pieces that were easy to wear in everyday life.
Looking back, I clearly made a lot of simple, polished clothes — probably because I also wanted pieces I could wear to work.
Room for Improvement

And then there were the pieces that taught me the most. Haha.
- The beige and black tops made from fabric scraps were both a little disappointing because there simply wasn’t quite enough fabric. Still, nice try!
- I really liked the yellow design, but the fabric shrank after only a few washes, so I had no choice but to give the fabric zero points. Haha.
- And the tube top with embroidered ribbon? I literally couldn’t raise my arms, so the design gets a full zero points.
I only did two refashioning projects this year, but I’d like to do more of those in the future too.
Next Journey: Tailor-Made Journey 2025 Begins
That wraps up my first year of custom tailoring.
I wonder if I’ll look back at these pieces a few years from now and think, Wow, I really was a beginner. Haha.
Either way, I’m excited to keep enjoying this Tailor-Made Journey.
