A Day Out in My Custom Dress

Thailand is full of beautiful and stylish cafés.
For this outing, I chose a café that I had been wanting to visit for a long time — and it was even more charming than I expected.
It’s a little far from central Sukhumvit (about 10 minutes by car from BTS Kheha Station), but it’s definitely worth the trip.
Sailom Bangpu
55 Moo 2, Soi Tessaban Bangpu 72, Thai Ban, Mueang Samut Prakan District, Samut Prakan 10280
With the seaside view and relaxed atmosphere, it was the perfect place to take my first tailor-made dress in Bangkok out for the day.
How Did the Tailor-Made Dress Fit?

Here is the front silhouette.
Looking at it now, I think the U-neck actually turned out to be the right choice.
Maybe it suits this style better than a V-neck after all.

This simple, straight silhouette is exactly what I like.
Just a clean, relaxed A-line shape that falls naturally.
Simple, comfortable, and easy to wear.

And here’s the back detail.
The V-back with the thin ribbon tie turned out beautifully.
I really love how it looks from behind.

Comfort and Wearability

Because the dress was made to fit my body measurements, it feels very comfortable.
The shoulder width, armholes, and overall balance all feel just right.
When I bought the fabric, the tailor actually warned me:
“This fabric is a bit heavy.”
But honestly, I didn’t find it uncomfortable at all.
If anything, it helped the dress keep a nice shape instead of looking too thin or flimsy.
That said, since the fabric isn’t extremely light, it might feel a little warm during Thailand’s hottest months.
It would probably work best during:
- the cooler dry season in Thailand
- days when I’m mostly indoors
- or even back in Japan
Personally, I feel this kind of dress suits stylish cafés like this more than places like temples.
Since the fabric itself was very inexpensive, I did wonder if people who know fabrics well might think it looks cheap.
But honestly, for everyday wear while chasing around a small child, it’s more than good enough.
And considering the total cost, I’m very happy with it.
Next Journey: My Unexpected Local Tailor Adventure
I accidentally ended up ordering from a small local tailor shop.
It definitely wasn’t the plan — but it turned into quite an experience.
I’ve also posted video clips on Instagram, so feel free to check those out as well.
