Inspired by a Zara Set

Compared with girls’ clothes, I always feel like there are fewer brand options for boys, but I really like Zara Kids because they have such cute pieces.

When I started thinking about what to make with this fabric — with absolutely no plan at first — I remembered a shirt I had seen at Zara and wanted for my son.

That became the inspiration for this little matching set.

I had mostly been having overalls made for him up until now, so this felt refreshingly different.

Another Favorite Matching Set: Pajamas

This one isn’t custom-made, but I love it so much that I’m going to give it a little shout-out anyway. Haha.

These are gauze pajamas from après les cours, and the fabric feels incredibly soft.

Even in hot Thailand, my son has been wearing them as pajamas all the time.

When you have a young child, you naturally end up taking lots of photos and videos while they’re in pajamas or lounging around at home, and this set looks cute in photos too.

I bought it on ZOZOTOWN and brought it with us from Japan.

It cost around 2,500 yen, and he has been wearing it for more than a year now.

Back to the Little Local Tailor

For this order, I went back to the little local tailor I accidentally discovered the first time and have been returning to ever since.

I showed them the Zara reference image, and I also brought the pajamas along so they could use them as a guide for the sizing.

It’s Finished!

Wait…This is so cute!

Neither my son nor I wear many prints, and since this was a turtle print of all things, I honestly had a hard time imagining how it would turn out.

But the moment I saw the finished set, I thought:

This was a total success.

The top and bottoms can also be worn separately, so I think it’ll be fun to mix and match them with other pieces.

It looks adorable, but the fabric is a little on the stiff side.
