The Sewing Uncle’s Refashioned Outfit

I did try wearing the refashioned set from the sewing uncle — at least once, just to see.

  • Floral shirts: 200 baht
  • Refashion by the sewing uncle (top and bottoms): 120 baht
  • Total: 320 baht

The bottoms were way too tight, though, and looked a little ridiculous. Haha.

And somehow, the whole outfit was giving off serious aerobics vibes.

This Is What I Actually Wore

In the end, I swapped out the bottoms for a pair of white pants and went with this version instead.

This is actually much closer to the kind of loose, airy silhouette I had imagined from the beginning — which really made me realize that, yes, there probably just wasn’t enough fabric.

To finish the look, I added a hat, protective glasses, a waterproof phone case, sports sandals, and a waterproof bag — fully prepared for battle.

Songkran Was So Much Fun

Over the three days, I went to Siam Square, K Village, and EmSphere.

Since my son is still little, we avoided the more intense areas, but even so, splashing water on each other was so much fun.

A lot of people were wearing floral prints or Aloha shirts, but I was honestly so happy that no one was wearing the same thing as me.

My Unofficial Best Dressed Award

Since it was my first Songkran, I couldn’t help paying attention to what everyone was wearing.

This parent-and-child pair totally caught my eye.
Not floral, but both wearing bold prints from head to toe, in matching looks — and the mom’s outfit was especially cute.

So I’m unofficially awarding them the Best Dressed Award, Bangkok Tailor-made Journey edition.

My Songkran Takeaways

After getting completely soaked every single day for three days, and washing everything over and over again, the outfit ended up pretty worn out.

But honestly, it served its purpose beautifully.

So here are my Songkran takeaways:

  • The water isn’t always clean, so cheap clothes are totally fine.
  • I had heard that less clothing is better because wet fabric sticks to your skin — which is true — but then again, you get sunburned.
  • Wearing florals feels almost like a sign that says, “It’s okay to splash me!” which somehow makes it even more fun.
  • The brighter and louder the outfit, the more fun it is.

I don’t usually wear florals, but now I’m thinking it might be fun to make something bright and playful once a year just for Songkran.
